Fun: enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure (New Oxford American Dictionary).
The reason this is one of my 8 values is because I have watched my boyfriend embody fun as an important part of life. While you might say, “Yeah, obviously having fun is important,” before him, fun is not something that would initially have come to mind for me as a need or value. But the more I considered what it adds to my life, the more important is has become.
“Fun” is not a word I would assume people to associate with me. At least, not the rollercoaster, getting drunk and partying, loud-life-of-the-party type of fun. When I think to myself, “what’s something I can do that’s fun?” most often images of walks, watching TV with Brandon or sitting and listening to music come to mind.
Your and my idea of fun may not align, and that’s very okay. What brings you “enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure” does not have to match what does so for me. What’s most important is knowing what activities make you feel light and happy. May you find some fun throughout this week, for yourself and with others.
