Because the reality is there is not always someone there to support you. The reasons why are wide and varied, but everyone has had some experience where the only physical being present was oneself. And you know what, it’s possible you might not have even felt safe with yourself to express a sadness, stress or other uncomfortable feeling.
So why not do the work to be a safe place for yourself?
A moment I felt completely at home with myself.
Thankfully I have a beautiful support system, but even so, I know what it’s like to crave, NEED, support from others and there is no one available to be there for me. As important as a community is, my heart aches for those who don’t know a safe person on whom to lean. You’re worthy of that, and I believe that there are people in this world who will show you compassion and support.
But before and while you know these people, may you be a safe place for yourself. May you honor your own tears, encourage yourself, give yourself the space to feel and be. It is a process and a continuous exercise. But each moment you show yourself compassion is a time when you plant the seeds to feel more and more at home with yourself.
I believe in you and I believe the best for you.
